I was getting ready for work yesterday and I was thinking to myself, "I'm so thankful for electricity." Then I thought how fitting, because after all, it is November... a time for Thanksgiving and to think about all that we are grateful and thankful for.
I went over to Becky Higgin's blog to check out a post she did last year. It really caught my attention. Last year she took a 20x28 poster and framed it and had her family write down all that they were grateful for. I thought that was such a great idea, considering last year I really wanted to do that too, but it was so late in the month. I guess there really is no wrong time to start this project. I mean, we don't need a certain month to write down what we are thankful for. It should be something we think about. So many people on this planet go without and sometimes I do feel I take things for granted. For instance... in a few countries, women can't vote... they can't drive cars... I couldn't even imagine. People go hungry daily, lots of people are out of work... it's just something that we don't realize sometimes on a day to day basis.
So last night I got out my poster board and bought a frame (22x28) and I took some pretty silver stickers to it and spelled out Grateful. I then told my family about the project, just like the one over with Becky Higgins and we wrote down our daily thanksgivings yesterday. So far we have electricity, hot water, God, and family. Great start to our family project.
I plan on keeping this up all the way through November, then displaying it on the wall in my home all year round as a reminder of all that we are thankful for, not just for the month of November.
So tell me... what are you thankful for?
