Last weekend after my boys had their football game, we took the kids to the apple cider mill down in Lacey, Washington. We usually go there once a year and enjoy the festivities. They have a petting zoo, lots of games for the kids to play, a sling shot to shoot apples at a target, feed to buy so you can feed all the animals, a bakery inside the barn where they make fresh pasteries and where you can purchase their jugs of apple cider. Years ago they even had a bobbing tank where you could bob for apples. They got rid of that though because I think they were concerned about germs. Makes sense...
Anyway, we went this year and met up with some friends, expecting to have a great time like always. We walked around and fed the animals, took lots of pictures, strolled through the pumpkin patch, my daughter rode on a pony for the first time and then we bought some hot apple cider to enjoy. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy it because of all of the bees! They are out late this year and they were EVERYWHERE. They were swarming our cups of cider as we were trying to drink it, so I ended up having to throw my cider away. I was so disappointed. My kids were scared to death because they all are very afraid of bees, so I was trying to tell them to remain calm and the bees won't attack them. I'm honestly surprised that no one got stung!
Here's some pictures from our adventures. I hope if we go again next year, the bees won't be as bad. We've gone there in the past before with never any problems. So this was very frustrating this year.
