How do you grow Candy Canes?

Growing Candy canes?  Did I read that right?  Yes you did!  Last year, someone gave me a fun idea to grow my own candy canes.  The kids absolutely LOVED it!  And it all started by our Elf, Eddy, bringing us the magic dirt and the seeds to plant in the dirt!

My kids planting the seeds....

First of all, I promise you this dirt isn't the kind of dirt you can find outside!  This is magic dirt!  (Well, for grown-ups, it's a bag of Oreo cookies, tossed into a food processor or blender, to resemble dirt.)  The Elf gives us the dirt in a bag, along with a Christmas bucket and these awesome peppermint "seeds" that my daughter is holding.  You plant six seeds (or peppermint rounds) in the dirt and you wait a few days.  Hmm, I wonder what happens.  Let's see....

Wow!  They are starting to grow!!

And what do you know, those little peppermint seeds turned into candy canes!  My children were thrilled!  Yes, it took about a week to grow them, but the best part is, we didn't even have to water them.  My kids are looking forward to this Christmas and they are hoping our elf will send us with another candy cane farm to grow!
Try it out with your family.  I bet they'll love it!  Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Holidays!
