I used to love it when my kids had birthdays. I love to decorate and buy them cool presents and I love the joy on their faces when they have their party. However, the older they are getting, the less I find I am enjoying their parties, but instead almost mourning that they are turning older! I don't know how many parents out there loved the toddler ages, but for me, I loved every moment of it. I was so proud of their big accomplishments and always wanted them to do bigger things, which they sure did. It was such a fun age. Oh, I've got to be kidding myself.... it's just not the toddler ages... it's all of their ages in life. I just love it all!
I remember back when my husband was deployed to Iraq the first time. It was just me and my boys at home. It was a stressful time, but my boys sure knew how to keep me busy and on my toes. After all, my boys were little. My youngest son was into EVERYTHING. And when I mean everything... I mean it. One of his favorite things to do when he was about 2 years old, was to climb in the sinks in the house and sit in them and play with the water. He loved getting into the fridge, dirt outside... the dog food... everything. He even got ahold of his brother's hamster and gave him a bath in the toilet. *Sigh*... boys.
Thinking about all those crazy things we went through with them when they were little, it's hard to believe how they've just grown up to be such good boys. Well... for the most part anyway! The boys still have their differences with each other, but I think that's just a part of brotherly love.
Tomorrow my youngest son is turning 10. Double digits. Geez... I know we just brought him home from the hospital just yesterday, right? It can't be ten years ALREADY! My... how time flies. And I just cannot wrap my head around it. They just grow like little weeds....
