swimming pool and football!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer.  I've been keeping up with the heat that's going through the rest of the U.S. and I'll be happy to say that we've remained in the upper 70's to low 80's for much of the summer and I'm perfectly fine with that.

Back in June, my husband and I decided to buy the kids a swimming pool.  We got it from Walmart and made sure to get the bigger one, 16 feet.  Boy, that thing is HEAVY!  James got the pool all set up, but in the process he's telling me he wishes I wouldn't have talked him into buying the pool because our backyard is actually sloped.  I told him it wouldn't be that big of a deal.  Apparently it WAS a big deal because as we filled it up, the water poured out of the side.

We eventually moved the pool closer to the house which the ground was more level.  The kids were excited (and so was I!) that the pool didn't spill out any of the water.  It took all day long to fill it up.  In the evening we went to check on it and noticed it had sprung a leak and our backyard was completely flooded!  Oh no!!

The kids were so disappointed.  Luckily Walmart offered to take the pool back for a full refund and James decided that another pool would not be an option.  It was just too much of a hassle.

We decided to take the pool back and get the kids a trampoline instead.  They love it.  I'm so glad we got the trampoline instead.  Makes me wish we would have got that instead to begin with.  We figure if it gets hot enough, they can always play on the slip-n-slide or the sprinkler.

During this whole pool/trampoline situation, James had registered the boys for our town's football team, the Spanaway Spartans.  It's tackle football and at first I wasn't really for it.  I just don't think that my oldest son is ready for something that extreme.  He's a pretty soft-hearted kid and doesn't like to get hurt.  James insisted it would be good for him.  He also talked me into letting our youngest son join.  He LOVES it.  He seemed to catch on pretty quickly and loves to play.  They have their first scrimage coming up soon.  (my youngest son) while my oldest son has already scrimaged.

In the process of having them play tackle... I got the chance to ask to be the league photographer.  They gladly told me yes, which made me so, so excited.  I'm really looking forward to going to the games and taking all those pictures.  Here's a few from the past few weeks...

Thanks for stopping by!
