a little update

It's nice to have the boys back in school and on a routine again. They both seem to like school so far, then again this is only day 3, but they have both said they have good teachers. Let's hope they both remain positive throughout the school year.

The boys are taking the school bus this year. They both seem to like the idea of riding the bus. I think it gives them both a little bit of independence, even though their nana (grandma) stands outside with them every morning to make sure they get on the bus ok. We did have an instance on the first day of school though where some older boys were picking on my oldest son, but yesterday there didn't seem to be any problems.

Yesterday my youngest son told me he fell down on the playground and swallowed a little tiny rock. I am not sure what is classified as "little" or "tiny" and I'm not sure if I should be concerned. I am thinking about contacting his peditrician to make sure there's nothing I need to worry about.

Things around our dental clinic at work have become extremely slow. Most of our patients have been deployed over to the middle east for the next year. We have a lot of downtime on our hands at work so it makes for some interesting, yet slow days. We do find things here and there to keep ourselves busy and entertained, but there's something about sucking up saliva that I miss. :) Unfortunately we cannot see anyone but the military. Too bad they could not bring in retirees or dependants for us to work on.

Even my husband has it slow right now. He was slotted to head out overseas back in June but didn't go due to the problems he has with his back. He stayed behind and he has been attending a lot of military funerals lately for the guys that we have lost in his brigade. He said he lost it yesterday when two little seven year old twin girls walked up and said goodbye to their dad. I feel horrible for my husband. He doesn't sleep well at night because of all the nightmares he has. He has been over to Iraq twice, once for a year and the other for 15 months. He's missed out a lot with the family. He suffers from PTSD (Post Tramatic Stress Disorder) and there's not a whole lot anyone can do to help him. It's something he has to live with for the rest of his life.

As we enter the month of September, we are looking forward to doing a lot of fun fall things. We have the Puyallup Fair starting up this week, which is always a fun tradition for our family, and we have a trip to the Apple Cider Mill coming up as well as the pumpkin patch. My birthday is next month and my husband and I are thinking of taking a trip to Lake Tahoe. We still need to talk about that a little more.

As it stands, life is good, we are happy and healthy, and I look forward to the future as I focus on the present. :)
